Things to Do in San Diego in November 2026
November is one of the best months to be in San Diego: warm, clear days in the high 60s to low 70s, the summer crowds gone, and a full calendar of free museum days, farmers markets and the first holiday events. Here’s what’s worth your time in November 2026, from free Tuesdays in Balboa Park to the best fall hikes and where to eat on Thanksgiving weekend.

Don’t miss the free Sunday organ concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, every Sunday at 2 PM. It’s one of the largest outdoor pipe organs in the world, and an hour there is one of the city’s great free afternoons.
Fall hiking season starts now

Summer heat makes San Diego’s inland trails tough, but November mornings are cool and clear. It’s the best time of year for Cowles Mountain, the trails of Mission Trails Regional Park and the coastal bluffs. Start with our ranking of the best hiking trails in San Diego, and bring the dog along on one of the best dog-friendly hikes. Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1, so sunset comes around 4:45 to 5 PM. Plan to be off the trail before dark.
Farmers markets and fall food

November markets fill up with persimmons, pomegranates, citrus and squash. The biggest is the Saturday Little Italy Mercato, six blocks of produce and food stalls (8 AM to 2 PM), so make a morning of it with a stop at one of the best places in Little Italy. On Sundays, Hillcrest’s market is one of the city’s largest, and on Wednesday evenings Ocean Beach closes Newport Avenue for its market (shorter hours from October through March). Afterwards, explore the best of Ocean Beach.
Veterans Day and Thanksgiving weekend
Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11. San Diego honors its deep military roots with ceremonies around the county, and many attractions offer military discounts. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. Beaches and parks stay open, and a Thanksgiving-morning walk or run along the coast is a local tradition. Many restaurants serve a holiday menu, so book early, and use our best Mexican restaurants in San Diego list for the leftovers-are-done Friday.
Get ahead on the holidays
Late November is when the holiday season starts here. Our San Diego Holiday Lights Guide covers December Nights, the Parade of Lights and ice skating by the beach, and whale season starts in December. See where to see gray whales in San Diego.
